blgcl1j.gif  Smile, smile and smile!

He, he!

If you have a teenager at home and he/she has just got his/her driving

license you probably know what  this poor mom is feeling.. I went through

this last year! :o) At the moment I saw this adoptable I thought about

 making a page about smiling/laughing...

As a matter of fact I'm stll smiling while looking at this scared mom...

Laughing is supposed to help us liberating endorphin, a substance

which is a natural pain killer and makes our hearts go slower

bringing us a great sensation of well being.

Oh, btw, the World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday of

October!

The smiley sign

I love the smilie sign so I was curious to learn about its creator!

"Harvey Ball, founder of World Smile Corporation created the first "smiley"

face back in December 1963 for a client whose company needed a morale

boost. The first "smiley" was made into a pin which was a handed out to

company employees and clients.  The pins were a big hit. More pins were

made and handed out. Soon the "smiley face" design appeared everywhere

on all kinds of products. By the late 1960's "smiley" had gone around

the world. Harvey never thought that "smiley" would go so far.

However, over time he came to realize that "smiley" reflects what is inside

every one of us. It is what we want to see when we look at anohter human

being. "Smiley" transcends differences in age, color, geography, politics,

and religion. Never in the history of mankind have a piece of art, so

simple and with such a positive message, reached so many people."

A song called Smile

Smile, though your heart is aching,
smile, even though it's breaking!
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by!
If you smile through your fear an' sorrow,
smile and maybe tomorrow,
you'll see the sun come shining through for you!

Light up your face with gladness,
hide every trace of sadness,
although a tear may be ever so near,
that's the time you must keep on tryin',
smile, what's the use of cryin' ?
you'll find that life is still worthwhile,
if you'll just smile!
That's the time you must keep on tryin',
smile, what's the use of cryin' ?
you'll find that life is still worthwhile,
if you'll just smile!

Music by: Charles Chaplin

Lyrics by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons, 1954
