~ WL's Christmas ~

A  Tropical Christmas

Christmas in Brazil is a Summer event!

Our heat season starts just three days before Christmas eve!

We surely don't have a White Christmas. As a matter of fact, our country
does have a little snow at its south part but this occurs only in July when

it is our Winter season and the snow which is too rare,  will fall for two

or three days mainly at the cities located at the highest mountains areas.

Our Christmas tradition

As this is mostly a family occasion, we use to

attend Christmas service with the whole family

at mid night and then we'll have  a special dinner party with stuffed turkey, tender, a Christmas

 cake and fruit salad.

Usually we'll have  a kind of a special treat after dinner.  It is called "secret

friend". "Secret friend" is a way of giving gifts to everybody without spending
too much money. :o)) So, at the beginning of December the family

gathers to rafle through tiny pieces of paper in which every member

 of the family is included.

No one is allowed to declare who is his/her "secret friend"!

We sure have a great time when we begin the gifts' distribution!

The person who is chosen to start the distribution  will have to describe

his/her secret friend and the others will try to guess his/her identity then,

the one who has just received the gift will start the whole thing again until everybody has got his/her own gift!

Yes, Christmas is a jolly season when people like to have fun decorating

their houses with beautiful  Christmas trees and crafts and coloured lights

but we must not forget that the true reason for this season is the

 celebration of our  Savior's birth!
