Snickerdoodles
1 cup soft shortening, part butter
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2-3/4 cups sifted flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix shortening, 1-1/2 cups sugar, and
eggs thoroughly. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt;
stir into shortening mixture. Roll into balls the size of small
walnuts. Mix remaining 2 tbs sugar with cinnamon. Roll each cookie
ball in sugar/cinnamon. Place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie
sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned but still soft.
Cookies puff up at first then flatten out. Makes about 5 dozen 2-inch
cookies.

Dani's Pralines
1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 stick margarine
2 cups pecans
Mix sugars, milk and pecans. Cook over medium high heat 20 to 25
minutes or until a small amount of mixture will form a soft ball in cold
water. Add vanilla and margarine. Beat until mixture cools and becomes thickened. Working rapidly, drop by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper. Let stand until firm. Wrap candies individually in plastic wrap. Store in airtight container. Makes about
