CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

Oh, how I miss my childhood's Christmas celebrations...

I think some of us are quite privileged to have nice memories of our
childhood's days. I know some people can't say the same but I was a

happy child and Christmas time was always such a remarkable occasion

in my life! I can remember each one of those happy and so special days... Our memories can work out better than photos sometimes, our deep impresssions of happiness don't vanish, they stay with us for the rest

 of our lives...

Closing my eyes and thinking about my grandfather brings me back to

those days...  My family used to gather around him on Christmas Eve.

He was a widow for many years  but he never lost his Faith and his love

for the family's Christmas gathering. Despite being only  a kid I was  the one behind the tree decoration,  the card's sending list and the shopping gifts' list! While November was just finishing I would start looking for ornaments, angels and stars to embellish the tree. My auntie Zelia was there supporting  and helping me out with all the preparations. We used to have a real tree which wasn't so common at that time as people seemed to be more interested in having artificial ones...  So, when the tree was ready we would arrange all presents around it and all the cards received were displayed hanging on a golden string at the side of the tree.

Around ten o'clock on Christmas Eve my grandfather  would began

the gifts distribution. He would call each one of us saying nice words

and  wishing us a Merry Christmas! After the gifts' party we used to

attend the special Christmas service in a church nearby. And then,

we would have our Christmas dinner indulging ourselves with

a tasty turkey and other delicious dishes...

I will never, never forget my grandfather and my sweet memories of those innocent

 and treasured days...

 I miss you grandfather!
